Spark plug socket size
« on: July 27, 2013, 11:52:07 PM »
Anyone know the socket size that fits the spark plug? I need to buy a deep socket and need to know the size to buy. Thanks

I'll tell you (5/8ths) but only if you move your dealer closer to Ohio!
....and REALLY small plug, fine threads, too. I'm always afraid I'm going to over-tighten that little thing and strip those fine alloy threads in the head.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

That is why I'm going to buy a new torque wrench. I gave my brother my old beam style wrench. Sears has a click style 10-50 ft-lbs one for around $60, I've heard mixed reviews on them. I might have to go the SnapOn, Matco or Precision Instrument route, but that means dropping $300+. That'll be fun explaining that to my wife.

Thanks for the info on the socket size. Can't promise my dealer will go along with your plan.

Picked up a deep socket today. Went with a metric equivalent of 5/8, 16mm. Gotta get a new torque wrench as I will need it for various engine bolts, CVT, brakes and axle bolts.
