Scooter Cannonball 2014 on People 250
« on: August 04, 2013, 03:42:20 AM »
I plan on competing in the 2014 Scooter Cannonball from Hyder, Alaska to New Orleans on my 2006 People 250.

Can anyone offer advice from long distance experience on this model? Any advice is appreciated. I would prefer not to do performance upgrades. I believe the stack scoot (4600 miles) has all the power I need. I prefer reliability over squeezing every iota of speed from the engine.

Man- That sounds like a blast.

I would look at things you could do to increase your comfort for the ride as well as increasing the gear carrying ability of the scooter.

I am not overly familiar with the P250, but does it have a sturdy suspension that will handle the increased weight and rough roads?

Keep us in the loop with your preparations!

The S250 has adjustable rear springs for higher load weight.  It should've come with a lever to adjust them.

Im good to go on the suspension. The seat is going to be completely redone for comfort, gel pad layer and remolded as a solo seat so i can slide back and stretch my legs. Between the under seat space, top case (milk crate w/ Jerry can & quick access necessities) and my saddle bag, I have plenty of storage.

My concern is how the exhaust will hold up and whether or not the cooling system springs a leak. I will be doing plenty of training rides in the run up. Figure 6-8 hour rides 2 days in a row twice a month.
