A Ride to Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham, AL
« on: May 17, 2013, 08:22:58 PM »
I love good riding weather! I fired up the ol' scooter this morning and headed out for a ride. I didn't really have a destination in mind other than I wanted to head towards Birmingham. Since I was on the scooter, I stayed off the interstate and took the Bessemer Highway into the city. Once there, I spotted the stacks of Sloss Furnaces off in the distance and decided to ride over to see it.

As you can see in the map below, I started in Centreville (C) and rode over to Sloss Furnaces (B) in downtown Birmingham. From there I headed down US 31 towards Alabaster and then on to Montevallo. After a quick stop for fuel in Montevallo, I took US 25 back to Centreville. In all, I think I rode about 130 miles today.

More info and LOTS and LOTS more pics at http://jerryandcynthia.com/ride_reports/05142013_sloss_furnaces.php

Yeah, thanks for sharing! Now maybe I can figure out how you posted the trip map and pictures without taking all day!

The trip map I did in Google Maps then hit Print Screen, then cropped out the part I wanted. This new image and all the others are uploaded to Picasaweb and I just link to the image source using the icon in the "compose message" window (2nd row, 2nd icon from left - it is a tiny Mona Lisa).
