Hey guys. I've owned a kymco super 9 LC since 2006, bought it brand new, I haven't started it for the last couple years and thought I would today but it won't start using the electric start. When I try to do so it makes a clicking sound at the starter relay so I am thinking it must be the starter motor except I can't find the damn thing, could anybody tell me where it is located so I can pull it out and test it? Thanks in advance fellas!

If the coil is open circuit or has a shorted turn - no noise, replace relay.

If the internal relay contacts are burnt and dirty from arcing there'll be a single click and no other noise - so clean contacts.

If the contacts have welded themselves together - starter will continue to whirr with ignition switched off - replace relay.

If the battery cannot provide enough current without dropping volts enough for the relay to drop out (rinse, repeat, 'rapid clicking' or 'buzz') then either shorted cells (most likely) or a narrow value window of internal high resistance. In the latter case it's probable that a battery terminal will get hot. Replace battery.
