Spark plug and Oil filter questions
« on: June 28, 2008, 12:58:12 AM »
I am going to purchase a People 250, Ahead of time I am trying to find numbers to NGK Iridium spark plug for this scooter,NGK only lists the Kymco Venox model- a CR8EIX Iridium (  Iridium plugs are great) and I assume that the 250 engine has an oil filter, is it strictly an OEM part? I tried to down load the owners manual else where in this forum, but I have dial-up and it will probably take a week to down load any information. The Kymco shop that I am going to purchase from does not carry any Iridium spark plugs of NGK or ND. Also on another forum a few wrote in about the People 250 overheating. Isolated incident? any iformation you care to share would be great. I have read the road tests else where in this forum, sounds like a great machine.  Thanks

I am answering my own question here, just so others will know. The People 250 has a NGK DPR7EA-9 spark plug (2008) model. the previous year models may have the same. This engine does not have a cartridge or screw-on oil filter, is has a screen that needs to be cleaned at each oil change. I know honda and others have used this set-up in the past on small engines. After I get to download a parts manual I find out where it's at ( I thinkthe screen is behind a chrome cover with (3) bolts, right above the engine oil dipstick).
I have seen a web sight for a parts manual else where in this forum-but I have dial up and the down load is 750+ meg. I am going to look up the NGK web sight to find the number for the Iridium spark plug-if available.

Save your money.  I just changed my standard plug after a little over 15,000 km.

I have a service manual.  I'll make you a copy on a disk if you send me a blank and a SSAE.  Email me at geezerbob39@yahoo.com if you want it.

Iridum plugs  only  last  longer..They  DO NOT  perform  better  and this  has been  backed  up by independent  testing  many  times ..Google  it  if  you  must... They  do  provide  a  less  frequent  replacement cycle..Spark  plug  inspection and/or  replacement  is a  good  thing..Its  a  window  to  the  "SOUL" of  your  bikes  engine..Spark  plug color/condition  tells  a  whole  lot..So  If  you  are  going to  unscrew  the  plug  to  inspect  its  condition...you  might  as  well  replace  it  with  a  new  one..

If  your  the  kind of  rider  who only  does  maintanace when  the  machine  breaks down  or  runs  poorly...Just  disregard my  whole  statement... And Yall  know who  you  are...lol ;)

I have replaced spark plug after 11.000 kms on Agility 125. Regular NGK.
The spark plug looked like new, no deposits, the electrodes were not worn.
