What IS the proper Iridium for the LIKE ??
« on: September 23, 2013, 11:14:46 PM »
Putting this over here, too, for us LIKE owners:

Recently I asked NGK if we need to use a cooler iridium plug when switching over from a standard spark plug.
They said, no - the heat range of a "7" standard plug is the same as the heat range of a "7" Iridium plug.
(ie: they've already taken into account the heat properties of both plugs - and while an iridium plug is 'hotter' than a standard plug - they've built both  "7" plugs to be the same heat range - otherwise their cross reference charts would be ruining engines across the globe)

The heat range remains the same between the standard plug and Iridium plug so if you use a CR7HSA the iridium part number would be CR7HIX.

FYI- these are the proper NGK's for the LIKE 200i (CR7HSA, iridium/CR7HIX)

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Thanks for the info. What's your assessment of the Iridium plug in the Like? So far I'm sticking with the standard plug.

Hello, I have had the Iridium NGK plug in my LIKE 200i for about 2200 miles. It has been many weeks since I made the change - and I can report that :
1) the idle speed picked up a little
2) idle at stop lights seems smoother

My scoot still starts in a flash - I get right at 80 > 83 mpg - engine accelerates quickly & smoothly.

I switched to the Iridium for 3 reasons:
Good experience with them in my previous 3 cars.
Tech articles on how well they work.
Veteran scooter owners recommended them as the best, first, improvement to a scooter. ("best"= quick, foolproof, cheap & effective)

I am not concerned about how long they last - ( for $7 I'll be replacing them every winter - just because.....)
IF they improved my MPG, acceleration, power, performance, etc. --- I have no way of knowing.
I bought a new scooter - spark plugs are easy & cheap and there's only one in my engine - I wanted the best spark plug in my scooter - so, the NGK Iridium is in there!
(it's right there when you're checking your valves, so.........!)
