2013 Super 8 2t
« on: August 10, 2013, 05:47:19 AM »
Hello!

Just brought home a new Super 50 2t - yes!  I am a veteran rider...but have been away from scoots for several years.  This forum helped me a great deal with my final decision on what to buy. Thanks! Also a shout out to Pimpy1...he has already been a good help to me as well.

So now I am ready to start researching and making my wish list for performance upgrades.  I don't want to do a 70cc kit...but do think I will try to go right up to that point.  I do have the smooth boss and #82 jet that I got with the scoot.

Here is what I am considering; Variator, airbox, exhaust...maybe stiffer springs.  I like that exhaust ideas from Pimpy1...looks good and helps performance, but not a red flag for our SC lawboys.

I know it's a bit of work talking to the noobs with all of our excitement and non-stop questions...but help and assistance is greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Keith

Welcome to the forum Keith.. I also have a Super 8 but a 125 4-stroke.... smooth as silk... no need for upgrades....   Go with the pipe and CVT upgrades first.. you'll get very good results...

I have a 2012 Super 8 2T.  27 MPH out of the crate.  I let it get 99 miles on the clock, did a lot of homework and luckily got it right after some minor wasted efforts.  Stop wasting your time and get the Malossi 70CC kit.  It needs this modification to get the power and speed.   It was easy to put in, about 1 hr.   I increased my main jet to a #95  and put a high volume air filter/boot.  I also used an EBay $30.00 racing variator and smooth bushing.   I now get 40 MPH easy and have had it up to 54 MPH tucked on the expressway.   I did have to pop the protective blank Idle Jet Cap and adjust it to have it start easily and idle.  That's it!   See my other Super 8 posts for carb mod pics.  The speed mainly came from the Malossi and stock carb mod

My son uses it daily for school and loves it.  600 miles on it so far

@complex you must be a good daddy :p
but the malossi 70cc kit costs 4-5x more than usual cylinder prices for 70cc

My friend seized up his Malossi piston and jug after a year. Not enough oil. Have to premix a greater amount of oil with the gas. I think he has a Polini in there now.

New 2013 super 8 2t owner here as well. Changed out what I believe was the boss at the dealer. I'm not sure if the jet on the Carb was replaced. I'm thinking of getting the Leo xr2 pipe(name might b off).
Also heard iridium spark plugs were a good idea. Last I was going to change air filter. Any things I'm missing? Not doing bore kit til warranty is up.
