Well, the little Honda with the Hunt's tomato can/exhaust wasn't mine -though it was my first ride.
The next 2 Hondas I had were stolen so quickly in San Antonio while I was in medic training that I am only
certain that they
were Hondas....
Then I took the insurance check and went out in the sticks to a dealer that sold some serious stuff.
I swear the place had a dirt parking lot....and I really had my heart set on the black one with gold lettering -but when he rolled out this yellow one I went weak in the knees. Screaming-give-me-a-citation-yellow and Chrome and gleamingly polished alloys.
The check from the Honda made a nice down payment and I took it back to my rental and kept it in the kitchen.
Fortunately I received orders for Vietnam shortly thereafter - otherwise this thing would surely have killed me. Why the Commando? I wasn't so sure there'd be much more time to be careful in life....something like that.
Alongside the BSA Thunderbolt and the Triumph Bonneville -these Commandos are my favorite bikes of all time.(though if I was going to go to Chile from here, it would be on a BMW)
