maxxer/ mongoose 300

hi

I have a maxxer 300 ie mongoose its road legal its top speed is 55mph flat out i have been driveing it at 50 do you think this is ok or is it going to be pushing it to hard???

also what up grades is there that would increase the power but not ware on the engine ????

The biggest Bang fo the Buck would be; Remove the air box and replace it w/ a free flow whatever filter fits your riding style. 2' snorkel or a  velocity stack. Put a bigger main jet (maybe 3-4 sizes bigger) If you want more top end a smaller rear sprocket is the second suggestion. You will loose some of the jump from the start if you don't do the Box too.

an open fillter and stack?? i do go of road a bit in deep water well above the wheels some times do you think the open filter will be ok??

Thats why I mentioned the snorkel too. You can easily adapt some of the stock plumbing to keep it Hi, and dry. If you have a dry storage area (under seat) I have mounted air filters in there too.

ya my filtter is in a box under the seat so could fit the upgraded one in there and it would keep it dry. iv also found these items on the website below but thats all i can realy find for my make of bike! ?? i fancy the sprocket could be good?

The sprocket should work out great. Can you post a pict of the cdi you have as stock? The cdi will make NO difference on your mx'r. Your factory box runs at full range w/ no restrictions. The only difference would be in the spark timing, and I think kymco has that down pretty good. setting up the filter/main jet will give you 3-4mph, and the 17t sprocket will do about the same. adding a pipe down the road will add another 4-5

Well the cdi box looks just the same as the one on that site. thats good to know about that as there selling it for 100 and something pounds. if i found a rear sprocket to it would run good with the front one??

I used to run a 490cc Factory Mako back in the day. W/ a 34 tooth rear it would run over 75mph in the dirt. W/ a 48 tooth it would not reach 60, but could pull the front end in any gear, at any speed. I don't think there is a factory replacement for the rear sprocketon the mx, but you can try comparing yours to Honda/Yamaha ect. To find one w/ the same bolt pattern. Smaller tooth count at the rear= more mph! 100 plus pounds is insane for a cdi. If you find yours to go bad just stick w/ the factory replacement.
