Brand new 2013 Agility 50 CVT Noise
« on: December 09, 2013, 01:13:43 AM »
I just recently bought a 2013 Kymco Agility 50 that had 1km on it for $1800 otd price.  They changed jet and did something to the variator i believe to make it go faster.  I top out at about 35mph on speedometer unverified. Anyways, i now have around 700km on it and i keep noticing a noise coming from the cvt at around 28-32mph?  Sounds exactly like someone scraping a paperclip on concrete.  And just the other day, ive noticed its doing it more and more often, at like 20mph now and sometimes at 5mph?  i thought it was making the noise because it was new and had to wear its self in and i was hoping it would eventually go away but it seems to be getting worse.  I may bring it in for its 1000km service to have the mechanics check it out but god is that expensive.  Just wanted to check with you guys on this truly spectacular forum to see what you guys would say.  Any input would be appreciated a million times over.  p.s. Love my little red agility 50.  LOL! :-*

This type service should cost you nothing on a new scooter. It must certainly still be under warranty. You're not asking for a 1000km service - just checking out wrong noises from a new scoot.
It's making a noise - the techs need to hear it!
FYI: God has very little to do with pricing scooter service.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

There are many videos on youtube about opening your scooters cvt. It is very simple to do. You remove a couple screws and then take the cover off. Just do this and take a look inside for yourself. If you notice anything worn or very loose then you will know what is wrong and can have it serviced. It really takes almost no mechanical know-how to pull the CVT cover off and put it back on. I would suggest doing this before paying to have someone look at it.

Also my A50 makes a rattling noise at about 28-34 mph. This is a very very common noise among A50s. Many people believe the noise is from the roller weights inside the variator or the variator itself. If the noise is VERY loud then yes it is probably a problem. But my suggestion is take a look for yourself first. It is very simple.

I am going with Stig on this one.  If it is new and you have a noise you are worried about then take it to the dealer. you have a warrenty they should be able to check it at no charge and fix it or tell you it's ok and why.

If they try to charge you then look at checking it out yourself, but only after they check it.  Because even if it is a problem from factory on your scooter once they notice you opened it then they will claim you did it and never fix it under warrenty.

Hmm, i always thought that they would charge you just to look at it because it wasnt officially broke yet.  But it does make sense for them not to charge.  And yes, it came with the 2 year unlimited mileage warranty.  I will give them a call and see whats up.  I will reply again to let you guys know what happened.  Thanks a trillion!  You guys are great!  Love this site, yall have a great day! :o
