30K Today
« on: February 08, 2014, 12:42:13 AM »
Crossed the 30,000 mile mark today 10 days short of 22 months. Scoot to this point has been pretty bulletproof. Only an issue with the fill bolt on the transmission and a busted exhaust shield bolt. Current City Grips are about done but have gone almost 16K. My old BV 250 by 32k had several large problems and wasn't safe to ride. This scoot is pretty awesome! Now if the weather would just get back to normal all would be good 8)

That's awesome!
Did you follow the break in recommendations or just get out and ride? I love the ride of this scoot. Riding with my motorcycle friends is much easier. Hope you get another 30k with no problems.
Ride safe

Momma Bear, I rode hard with variations in speed as I had read that putting loads on the engine were better than babying it. To this point she doesn't use oil. I use synthetic 5/40 about 2500 miles between changes.

Good going Scootaloot! You are a serious rider.

Have you changed out the drive belt and rollers?  At what miles?  Seen any movement in the valves?

ABD, Into 3rd belt. Have tried 15g and 14g sliders. Love the 14's. Valves have been good but will have dealer ck again with next set of tires soon. I will probably replace air filter this spring as I have just cleaned it to this point. Not sure how many miles she'll do before needing rebuild but hoping to get at least in the 50-60 range.

Scootaloot.
Hope mine does that well.
I guess all Kymco owners wonder how long these scoots will last without needing major repairs.
When you get up to 40-50, let us know how things are going.

ps: Where is the best place to buy drive belts, and cost?.

Boo, I have only bought belts from the dealer. They discount parts 10% as the scoot was purchased there. Cost about $100. That is one of the drawbacks with a new model as there isn't much after market stuff available. The last belt went 14k but was in pretty poor shape so this time I will go no further than 13k but with the launch the 14g sliders are giving 12k may do it ;). Even an old guy still enjoys taking it to a BMW cager once in awhile 8)
