How to change waterpump without bleeding the system?
« on: January 07, 2014, 05:34:51 PM »
Does anyone know how to change the waterpump without bleeding the coolingsystem?
My waterpump leaks for a long time oil now (even after a revision kit) and I came across a second hand pump on Ebay.
I hate to have to strip the whole scoot down, so any ideas woul be much appreciated!

Lay the bike on its left side, block the wheels up real high so the pump is higher than anything else in the cooling system and change the pump real fast! This is "tongue in cheek" with good humor intentions......I think you gotta drain the system to change the pump.

Maybe try to pinch close/off the hoses with vise grips etc before removal. :-*

I thought of that too Sissy, thanks. Maybe closing the tubes with a cork.

Anyone experience  with this? I dont want to go to a day of stripping the whole scoot and refilling etc.

To re-fill u just need to pop off the front nose of the fairing, just a few screws, and there is the radiator fill tube. No big deal. :-*

I know, but with mine it IS a big deal. Had several crashes with it so the fairing is not that easy to (re) install.
