Routing the Battery Tender pig-tail
« on: January 30, 2014, 10:47:43 PM »
That's the pig-tail to the battery, for the battery tender, hanging out of the air slot in the front panel (the one we remove to adjust the valves and replace the spark plug)
Saw 'scooter in the sticks' guy doing this on his Vespa. I didn't have to do anything special - the wire lays down with no issues when I put the battery cover back on.
Come spring, I'll tuck it back in the battery area.
Very happy to be riding again today!(even if I have to push it a few 100 yards at 4:30 AM to get clear of the ice on the roads. 7 degrees)

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

I ran my out the bottom of the scooter next to the side stand. After over 6000 miles not single issue with this position.

Troutbum,
I will take a look at that route....cold and ...cold... on the concrete so have not laid down there to see all the possibilities.
Sure wish some folks would post pictures of their scooters out and about. Surely somebody else is moving around this winter?!
Put a camera in your pocket and shoot us all some pictures.....even the SYM folks are barely posting anything to look at!
The scooter in the sticks guy is probably roaming about on his Vespa. I will go check him out!

I ran my pig tail out through the bottom also. When disconnected and riding I hook it to the plastic tang that sticks up from inside of the black "skid plate" in front of the stand. The only downside as Stig notes is that I have to lay on the garage floor to connect the battery tender. That is only a problem when it's 25 degrees out side. BRRRR!

I don't bother with tucking the connector out if the way. Makes for connecting to the tender much easier that way. I wondered if leaving it out like that would be a problem, but after 6,000+ miles not a single nick to the connector.
