Warranty work complete + belt and rollers
« on: March 02, 2014, 02:21:26 AM »
Happy to have my scooter back. It went into the shop to have a seal replaced under warranty. Kymco sent the wrong part and my scooter sat for two weeks waiting on the replacement. Since they had the cover off I had them replace the rollers, pattinos and belt. All totaled including labor and taxes was $154. The scooter rides nice. No bog-down now that I have round rollers and new pattinos. What a difference. The original pair last just over 6,000. The belt still was within spec, but I had it changed anyway.

Hey troutbum, I have a Like myself and just wanted to know what you mean by bog-down? I seem to have a bit of a loss of power after I go for the first ride of the day. I will ride it then park, go out later and it seems like it doesn't have as much get up and go as it did before. I take off from the light ok but then it doesn't have as much pick up as it did. Not sure why. Was wondering if this is what you meant?

Hey mscmkr, I'll try to explain. Within the last 500 miles or so I notice my acceleration from a stop hit a flat spot before continuing to accelerate once again. From a dead stop I would roll the throttle on and the scooter would begin its acceleration, but within two seconds the acceleration would have a slight pause before continuing on. Since the Like is fuel injected it didn't make sense that it would be the fuel system causing the pause or bog-down as I called it. Initially I thought it could be caused by the ECU or bad sensors. Then someone suggested checking the variator. Sure enough the rollers had flat spots and the roller channels were in need of cleaning.

TroutB....you're killing me here trying to figure out what the deuce a "pattinos" is.
Are you Italian? 'Cause I figured "pattinos" sounded faintly Italian...so google tells me that the Italian "pattino" translates to 'skate' in English.
OK, now I'm looking at my exploded image of a LIKE 200i CVT......to see: what looks like a 'skate' to Mr. TroutBum and his Italian friends?  Are you talking about the 3 little 'U-shaped' plastic things - "Slide Piece" the Kymco parts diagram calls them??
You replaced the rollers and the 'pattino - slide pieces', yes?

This is really cool - because the next time I'm chatting with my scooter buddies (if I had some, or even one) I'm going to mention that, "while servicing my scoot's drive system last evening, I saw that my pattinos were sketchy, as well". They are going to think I'm a graduate of Vespa U., Naples!

Anyway - glad you are scooting again and with no issues!
Snowed last night - 7>8 inches expected.
That is a very good price for the parts and service!
Ride safe -

Lol Stig. No I'm not Italian. English actually with a bit of German and Scandinavian thrown in for good measure.

You are correct sir about the pattinos  being the three U shape sliders on the ramp.

It's nice to be riding again. Hopefully spring will arrive soon in your corner of the world.

Ciao
