Flat on my Yaeger

Hello all,

Been a while since I've posted here. I've got a puncture on the rear tire of my Yeager. I don't have my manual with me a t the moment so I'm not sure if it's a tubeless tire, or not. Whichever the case I need to get it to my dealer to get it fixed. Is it better to use 'fixaflat, or apply a plug?

Wolf,  it's certainly a tubeless tire.  If the puncture is small, it's easy to put in a plug, and the plug may last many many miles.  Although, many riders will say the safe thing to do is to replace the plugged tire with a new one, I have had plugged tires on my scooters that lasted quite a few seasons.  My recommendation is if there is plenty of tread left on the tire, go ahead and ride with the plugged tire.  That is, if you are comfortable with the idea.  If the tire is already well worn, plug it, and go get a new tire.

I have never had a plugged tire fail me on a scooter, or a car.

I forgot this....fix  a flat is a temporary fix only.  Doesn't always work, and leaves the inside of the tire, wheel a mess!  Only try it if you are stuck in the middle of nowhere as a last result.

Also, if the puncture is on or near the SIDEWALL of the tire and not in the tread.....time for a new tire!

I've had 2 plugs on my rear tire that lasted for more than a year...

Yeah, Fix-A-Flat is good for tube type tires, since the goop is contained. It makes it so you don't have to spring for a new tube quite so soon. But for tubeless, it leaves the inside of the tire all messy. Some garages refuse to work on tires that have had that stuff put in them, because it's so messy.
