Am i taking too much risk.
« on: December 02, 2013, 04:45:54 AM »
Hello, this is my very first post. I live in nyc and the weather is getting colder.  I'm seriously considering getting the agility 125 because I hear good things about them. They're not too expensive, and I'll save some serious transportation money. I'm a little skeptic about it because I read that some people are having trouble starting this thing when its cold out. I won't leave the bike sit for any longer than a day without starting it. I really wouldn't want to take the chance of being stuck with this thing at 2am when its time for me to head home from work. If that happens, my commute home would probably take 3 hours. That would suck really bad lol.
So is it safe for me to buy this thing? Thanks for your help.  BTW its a 2013 and they're sold for $1599 brand new.

The problem usually is that the carbs on these scoots and other carbureted scoots as well are tuned to your "normal" climate... During cold temps/weather, the engine needs more fuel than air... so, it's more of adjusting the the carb to be on the richer side.  Also, you will need a battery with higher cold cranking amps (CCA) because batteries perform less during cold...  Buy that Agility and familiarize yourself in tuning the carburator...

thanks for your help. I'll ask the dealer if he knows how to adjust the carb and ask him if he can switch the battery or where i can buy one.

I have the agilty 50 and yes the cold gets to the scoot in colder weather. I have 2 carbs one for the summer and one for the winter so farso good. the winter time carb has a bigger main jet and is tuned for richer gas. and the float needle sits higher up to let more gas in. Good luck.

Mine has never failed to fire up even with early morning temps hovering the freezing mark.
