Dogs after the Stig
« on: June 01, 2014, 12:51:15 AM »
Very nice morning ride nearly ruined when I was attacked by 3 dogs while in the 10MPH camping area. Putting along looking at a uniquely shaped tent when - Bam, was charged by & surrounded by 3 snarling dogs. They got each other into a fever pitch in a heart beat.
I remembered what the instructor said: Let them come in close then accelerate away, hard! It worked, though I nearly ran over the Shepard in front of me.

At sunrise I almost always see my buddy 'Virgil' out walking his 3 big dogs. Virgil is the state park manager & we know each other after he caught me tresspassing & taking snaps last winter. He likes my scoot & is a great guy.  I spotted him with his dogs, dismounted & told him my story. Virgil is a very friendly guy....he is also every bit of 6'4" and easily 350-400 lbs. He assured me he'd take care of it.
The 3 were a big mutt, a pit bull and a big Shepard. There is a leash law in this county - but the owner was letting these 3 dogs run free in a moderately crowded camp ground.
A pit bull mauled another toddler's head in our city  a few weeks ago....and a pair shredded a housewife & left her naked & dead in her front yard last fall. Maybe a half dozen such cases in as many years around here.
In Ohio it is really cool to own The Important Pair, The Big Two....even if they don't have a pot to p_ss in and their F-150 hasn't started in 3 yrs : A 9mm and a pit bull.

Nice bike in the tenting area.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.
