Turn signal stolen off my Like :(
« on: May 30, 2014, 03:58:14 AM »
Hello,
My battery and right turn signal were stolen off my scooter right in from of my house. I guess that is the danger of living in a city.

Should I buy an OEM signal and get the local dealer to fix it or maybe do it myself? Would an aftermarket one be cheaper? Thoughts?

Thanks!

Buy a shotgun, and a box of No-Doze. You have to get your priorities straightened out.

Buy the OEM because then you just install it. Nothing changes.

That sucks! I like zombie's solution!

Another is to get a cheap motion sensor camera from the hunting section at walmart. Then, if they try it again, you'll have a nice snap shot for the police to see.
Even a cheap motion sensor spotlight is a good idea if you have to park outside. Thieves don't like being visible!

That stinks...as if scooter riders don't have enough to worry about out there in the streets.
Will your insurance cover any of this?

About two years ago some kids broke into one of my shops, and out of 40-50 grand worth of outboard/scooters/tools/marine parts they stole four dead battery cores.

Of course I was relieved but I went and bought a cheapo Trail Cam at Wally World. The kids came back the following weekend, and the Cam got their picts. No One could tell anything from the cheap Cam picts but one of the kids dropped his friging report card from school. He ratted out the rest.

Point being... Buy a GOOD camera or motion lights. They WILL be back.

The turn signal is an odd thing to take. If thats what they needed, they will be back for more spare parts.

That's what I was thinking. If you see kids w/ a skate board, and a tie strap... Shoot FIRST! Search them afterwards.

OEM it is. Unfortunately/thankfully? the damages are below the insurance deductible.

My theory is that this person dropped their scoot and so it sat around long enough for the battery to die. "Hmm where to get a new battery? Oh I'll just steal it! Hey I need a turn signal since I smashed mine dropping the scoot. I'll steal that too!"

I'm worried that they will come back for more "spare parts". :/

I've seen the most random stuff stolen off scooters it's strange. Get a cover with an alarm on it, if the scoot has to be outside.
