HELP! Anyone have a used Exhaust Can???
« on: June 07, 2014, 02:07:26 AM »
So I was changing out the rear tire and i take off the can, and it sounds like it has a bunch of broken peices in it. I can see and hear parts moving around in it. iT's pretty significant.

Any of you guys who have bought Aftermarket exhausts could i buy your can from you???

I know the exhaust has been sounding pretty free flowing and less quiet, what is the ramifications of me continuing to use this can, or to just not use a can and straight pipe it. It sound pretty mean without the can!! HAHA.

regardless, anyone have a can???

I am guessing it is a carbed bike.

You can up jet to run the open pipe but you will have to go thru trial, and error to find the right jet. Plug chops with a handful of new plugs is the only way to be SURE you have it dialed in.

It shouldn't hurt to continue riding w/ the loose parts in the pipe. The back pressure will be about the same.

nah, its FI. 2009 Xciting RI.

Anyways, bump for old can.

Its just kinds weird allthe loose metal parts would still make it work the same.

Anyone have an old can?

No but I have a question for you:  Today I found that the rear tire on my 2013 Xciting 500 was flat:( It had a huge roofing staple in it. I've taken the caliper and exhaust off and the large axle nut but now it looks like the right side swingarm must be removed too! It looks like it's not a big deal but I stopped for today and will continue later--so Have I missed anything??

There is a tutorial from someone here. I think it is for a 250 but the high points are the same. It's from the last three weeks or so.

Like I said, I have no exhaust can. After feeling how heavy the thing is, I'd like to replace it with something lighter!

I saw that the right swingarm had to be removed as it was obvious looking at it. I watched a video on Youtube yesterday that showed the entire procedure, start to finish.

Good luck in your search.

I don't see why not. As long as the header pipe is the same diameter.
