For me, 500cc and above.
I consider 250-400 middle weights.

To me it has always been 500cc's and up. Owner's of 250cc scoots now consider themselves Maxi-scooter owners.

Really, what does it matter. I've had them from 50cc's to 650cc's and all of them were MAXIMUM fun!

When I think maxi I'm thinking a style first not displacement.

Yep, I read that in Europe there are  maxi scoots with engines as small as 150ccs!
Somehow these small engines haul around an adult rider and a 6 foot long maxiscoot!

I personally would be hard pressed to call anything under 400cc a Maxi scooter. No doubt that 300cc is a big step up from a 150cc but not quite a maxi. A real maxi to me would be 500cc and higher with 600cc and up being the more genuine maxi.

But as said, as long as it's fun who cares what the lable says. If you had a partner that was 30 years your senior and she/he was still fun to ride, who cares, it's your ride.

My scoot is a Grand Vista 250cc. Sounds like this puts it the Midi scooter range.

For me, if it can travel and maintain interstate speed (65-70) and still have something left on the throttle it's a maxi.
