tps/isc reset procedure??? please help
« on: June 24, 2014, 03:57:07 PM »
Hey guys. Some of you know I have a 2012 xciting 500 ri and its in the shop still for a random, intermitent stalling at stops issue. Can someone point me to the tps/isc reset procedure so I can forward to the dealer please? Think this may be the answer they are looking for as the bike runs great but stalls randomly at stops, no error codes and its fuel injected. They said they hadnt heard of something like that and I have seen or heard it on this and other forums but I wanna send them the exact procesure. Thanks in advance.

I copied the phrase  you posted for your title in the "search" box w/ no name, and came up with the post that describes the procedure.

Thanks a bunch. So its the same procedure for the xciting? Or is it same for all the fuel injected bikes?

awesome, thanks. so i spoke with the shop yesterday. they bike is doing better than it was so they are close. it still isnt perfect to where they are comfortable releasing it. today i think they are gonna try this procedure. and apparently another guy just came in with the same bike, same year i believe, and same issue. im not alone lol
they have been working close with kymco to solve this and making it a top priority since its been 2 weeks, which i am happy to hear. i guess kymco also sent them a new maf sensor to try out also. hoping something gets solved and i can have it back asap.
i will update when i know more

It can only be one of three parts... MAF IAC TPS. The last MAF sensor I replaced was in a Buick. 400 and something dollars.

the replaced the maf, did the tps/isc reset, have replaced the idle air bypass valve all to no avail. still in the shop and this is day 20!!!  im beginning to wonder at what point i should mention lemon law to them if it comes to that. lemon states the vehicle has to be out of service for a total of 30 days. this is 20 today, the shop is closed on sundays so that cuts another 2 days off if it runs longer. it is nearing the 30 day mark fast it seems. i just wanna ride. wondering if they should cut their losses and tell me to come pick another bike lol.

Glad you can LOL!

I would mention the real possibility of a replacement under the law(S).  Perhaps they can get that ball rolling for you.

update, the shop called and kymco wants them to double check the valve clearances. since the stalling only happens when it is really hot. i had the valve done at another shop. kinda a catch 22 feeling, if the valves are in spec as they should be, the there is a different problem... if they are not in spec, then i have to pay for the valve job AGAIN and then go after the other shop and hold them responsible since they adjusted them per spec as i was told.

update, still in the shop!!! almost a month now. they still have it torn down and were communicating directly with the manufacturer. yesterday kymco told them to hold off because they got another one that is exhibiting the exact same issue and the same bike. this can be good news since that one is at the manufacturer so they have the parts on hand. so they are going through everything, then gonna let the dealer know what to do. i am really hoping we are getting close. this has taken way too long and i dont want to have to deal with lemon law if i dont have to cause then i need to consult a layer.

I test road one from scoot over in tucson az. It stalled at every light/sign? They said it had happened before and they leaned out the mapping just a touch, and it cured the problem? As quoted to me? Give them a call. :-*
