How much time Doc.
« on: August 07, 2014, 03:56:39 AM »
I have a Kymco agility 50. It has been giving me problems. I don't know much about fixing scooter. I can change the oil and gear lube. I took out the air filter and now it runs better. It has been losing top speed and it does not have the punch it use to. I put 20,000 KM on it in 2 years and have been riding wide open the whole time. How much time or KM more do I have with the scooter. I was going to buy a Honda Met after the agility started acting up but after taking the air filter out and it running better I don't know. Is the Top speed loss because of the belt? It was going close to 38 mph now it goes about 30 and it does not climb like it use to. I'm just going to put a new air filter and spark plug in it.

If that entire 20,000 km is still on the original belt, I would definitely change it. It's probably wore down to the point of failure with that much WOT!

Are you saying you removed the air filter and kept riding it???
In your attempt to solve a (probably cheap) problem, you're inviting a whole host of others.
New belt and rollers, get yourself some.

Yeah dude, riding without an air filter is a very bad idea even for a little while.

These scoots don't need frequent maintenance, but they need regular maintenance if you want them to run well and last. Kymcos will go a very long while if you treat them well.

Agree with the other advice; Download an Agility service manual, follow the maintenance schedule and learn to do some of these basic things. I would also add to what others have put here that you should probably adjust your valves. You can find youtube videos as well as explanations here and in the service manual on how to do this.
