B&W 250 Headlight - help finding & replacing
« on: August 19, 2014, 09:10:32 PM »
Hey all,

First the low beam on my 2002 B&W 250 burned out and now my high beam has burned out, as well.  I need to replace it, but I'm having some trouble finding a bulb to buy and information about how to replace it.  According to the manual, the bulb itself is part 34091, although I'd certainly be open to replacing with something a bit more powerful.  Any thoughts/help would be appreciated!

Use a 35/35W HS1/H4 bulb. If you want more power, modify a standard 65/55W H4 bulb base to fit by snipping off the two tangs.

Even better, go hid!!!! I installed a DDM tuning HID 55w setup and it ROCKS. High beam lights up miles ahead. I would not recommend going to 55w unless you switch your tail light to led, the voltage will be sorta low at idle. My bike it's at 3 bars at idle., full while riding. If your interested in the hid I can walk you through what it takes.

For what it's worth, I ran my Bet and Win 250 for a year with the brighter headlamp even through the winter. Never had a problem with voltage drop, and I assume my heated vest put a far bigger draw than my light bulb. I put the original bulb back in for the next owner. I do keep my batteries topped up, and the extra brightness I appreciated.

Nice, might be because I suck 12v directly from the battery.
