New here, got a question on the Agility 125
« on: August 31, 2014, 04:23:56 PM »
Just stumbled on this forum. I have been a Kymco fan for years. I was a Kymco fan before I even knew what Kymco was, rocking those old Honda Elite engines to the limits.

I have revived about a dozen or so of the old ZX50, which I consider to be one of the best scooters ever made.  I have come across specimen with 20k+ on the odometer on the stock top end which is incredible for a 2 stroke 50 on a college campus. I had a blue ZX50 I used as a loaner for years. All my buddies just beat the crap out of it but it just would not give up on life.

All my ZXs kept count KM, does the Agility 125 count KM or miles?

Here is the BIG question. is 19,000 an absurd amount to see on an Agility 125 odometer? I pretty religiously stay away from 4 stroke 50cc bikes, I just don't see any benefit, but when you get to the bigger ccs I can see a case for going 4 stroke. What is the life expectancy of these Agility 125s? It is a 125cc 4 stroke engine made in China. In my exploits I have rarely seen 150cc GY6s with more than 7-8 thousand miles on them, but that might have more to do with the rest of the bike falling apart than the engine.

If its 11 thousand miles (19000 KM) I could see it still having some life in it. If its 19000 miles, it has to be finished I am thinking.

I am not looking for, "I know a guy who knows a guy who once saw an Agility 125 with a million miles on it". I am looking for average life expectancy.

If I can't get any answers here I will go check with my local Kymco dealer. I am lucky enough to have the best Kymco dealer in the nation on the other side of town.

Thanks for any help.

Were the main numbers in the Speedo in km or mi? The newest Agilitys are in miles but possibly older models are in km. It's a China made engine, but far better quality than the knock off brand GY6. 20000mi out of an agility it's not bad if they had taken care of it well. It has the same case as the 150cc GY so you can go up to 180cc with stock crank, higher if you stroke it!

WIKid:

I have had my Agility 125 since early December 2012 and I love my her. I am at 11,490 kilometers which converts to about 11.500 miles. The agility is a great piece of engineering as she has proven to work in all kinds of weather. Here in Vegas, I rode her when it was 115 degrees in the extreme heat. She had no problems at all and she did very well in the heat. She has no problems riding in the rain and extreme cold as well. These bikes are built to last for a long, long, long, time. I know there was SYM 125 on the SYM forum that had done 60,000 miles on their bike with no problems at all. As long as you take care of the bike they will take care of you.

My mechanic uses AMS synthetic oil which is good stuff. Other then my taillight being out, there have been no issues. Kymco slogan is "Where there is Sunshine there is Kymco." This proves just well built their bikes are. The company really does care quality instead of making a fast buck.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't 11500km about 6700 miles?

I guess it just depends on how she looks when I go to scope her out.

What does a Agility 125 go for in working condition with that many miles on it? Seems like it might scare away potential buyers.

Yeah the conversion was way off or a typo lol. I wouldn't pay more than $500 with that mileage....

I did not realize I had put the miles in and not the kilometers in. I meant to 18,490 kilometers which translates to 11.500 miles. I just need to proofread my own post. 8)
