Find scoot's weight limit
« on: September 12, 2014, 09:44:03 PM »
Find this sticker on your Kymco ....take that gross vehicle weight and subtract your scooter's weight (in the owner's manual, or on-line) from this figure - the result is your scooter's safe weight limit.
Of course, it is not a good idea to load any vehicle to its max limit often, or expect it to handle real well when you do.
This safe weight load figure is NOT the same as adding the max load capacity printed on the side of the front and rear tire. That is a figure the tires can handle, NOT the scooter!
Interestingly, I've read several places that the safe load limit for a lot of 2 wheeled vehicles is around 330-350 lbs.
It seems a whole bunch of motorcycles with 2 chubbies-up are overloaded! Apparently a lot of HD's are near their max with just that big rider, alone.....not counting the lovely Miss on the back.
Who knew?
When you're looking at smaller scoots or bikes - some salesman will not be quick to point out that the pretty new scoot you're looking at is darn near overloaded with just you on it....and you best not plan on a passenger.
Get down on your knees and find those gross vehicle weight stickers - then subtract from that the weight of the scooter to see how much you can then put on the seat. Even some maxi scooters do not have a very much greater load capacity than mid sized scooters.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.
