Back Up Parts for the Like200i
« on: October 17, 2014, 05:35:59 AM »
Hello Like200i forum members I'm from SoCal as a proud 10 month owner of a 2013 Like200i in Red with 5,100 trouble free miles and I would like to get some backup parts for the Like in case it can't start or the bad luck of a flat tire... and I could try to fix it the same day since it's my only way to travel.

I have a backup spark plug, front and rear backup tires (City Grips) I would like to know which battery to buy as a backup, CVT belt, air filter (Kymco took 3 weeks for my second air filter to come in!), and other good stuff we could buy online.
2013 Like200i since Dec.2013. NGK CR7HIX Iridium Spark Plug, Givi37L Top Case, Royal Purple 10-40W Syn Oil, Lucas 75-90W Syn Gear Oil, Michelin City Grip Rear Tire - 130/70-12, and Michelin Bopper Front 120/70-12 Tire. 5,100 as of Oct.2014

Welcome aboard from your neighbor in the SF Bay Area.

I have a 2012 Like. Just surpassed 8,300 miles on her.

I would suggest a Yausa battery. I'm not at home to give you the model number at the moment. I had 2 OEM batteries go dead within a year. They were covered under warranty. My dealer in frustration told Kymco they were replacing the dead battery with something other than OEM period! Kymco agreed.

I would suggest checking the nuts and bolts with each oil change. I had one air cleaner box bolt vibrate loose and fall to the side of the road. The bolt holding the ground wire to the starter engine case near the starter motor went missing and caused sporadic starts and running until I discovered the source of the problem.

Loctite is your friend so I would carry a tube of their blue.

I stepped up the battery to this Yuasa.
Otherwise - I really like OEM Kymco parts. Kymco makes good stuff.
If shipping is an issue - maybe order sooner?
I did the same thing when I bought my scoot - rounding up spares of likely items....in case Kymco left town! (USA)
Brake pads - but these don't sneak up on you - plenty pf warning.

I carry a tire repair kit to get me home (plugs, CO2 bottles to re-inflate me out in the boonies)

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Belt/rollers/variator/drive boss. That'll cover the cvt. The variator/boss are not really "must haves" but I have had a few fail. An exhaust gasket is handy... same for a CVT cover gasket.
Lots of light bulbs for everything... Fuses, and a few heat shrink in line connectors, and a multi meter or a test light are good to carry.

A throttle cable is almost a must have. I replace them all the time.

All the OEM stuff is listed by part number on kymco Parts monster. It's a good shop for OEM. I've ordered there 3 times, and am happy.
