Won't kick into higher gear
« on: October 12, 2014, 02:23:50 AM »
I replaced my rollers 6 months ago which improved climbing hills (20mph) and top speed (38-40mph). The rollers were unevenly worn. A couple had flat sections to them.

It was running great but now the moped won't kick into that higher gear and often have a hard time getting over 25 mph. It seems to do better if I start riding downhill and can hit a higher top speed from the start. If I start on a flat or incline it takes 5 minutes to get pass being stuck at 25mph.

This is probably connected too. My driveway is uphill. If I turn it on and quickly try to make it up the hill the moped loses power. The engine revs but won't push me up the driveway.

Is this a problem with the rollers again? Or do I have something else going on? Thanks for your help!

Did you buy 5 dollar rollers from Ebay?

That sounds like the rollers wore down to the core, and can not open the Var. I only use Polini or Dr. Pulley. I have hundreds of odd brand rollers that didn't last more than a month of daily driving.
