I'm getting kinda lost on this one. I once purchased a de-restricted cdi that was listed for the zx/ super fever. It turned out to be a dc cdi, that will work on the early zx, but not on the later super fever. The monster add I looked at gives a choice of ac/ dc cdi, and it must be matched to the correct stator/ harness/ regulator. Assuming you have the correct cdi. I would start w/ a NEW spark plug, Check the compression w/ a gauge, and don't skip this step just because it "feels" good when you turn it over. I have assumed mine was good when the piston dome was like a strainer. You must then determin if the stator is working. the manual can be found on line (free), and will give you some base line resistance values to check. Again assuming you have the correct cdi, check the coil values. This will include a test on the wire/ cap also. You may find all is good there, and have to go on to the ignition switch/ kill switch. It seems complex, but in reality the system is quite simple. You could buy all the parts one at a time until you find it, or try to find a friend/ mechanic/ whom ever, that can check the basic resistance's w/ you. Good luck man. I've been there done that! Just on a hunch, The spark plug cap will unscrew from the wire. If you have enough slack, try to cut off 1" of the wire, and screw the cap back into the fresh end.
