pictures or guidance on coolant to carb hoses
« on: November 10, 2014, 10:02:50 PM »
As i get deeper into this scooter I'm realizing that it has been fondled extensively.  After hooking up the electric choke againinoticed that the coolant hoses are disconnected from the carb.  Anyone know where to find a picture so i can rerun the hoses? Or maybe good enough direction to guide me?

Have you seen copy of service manual?  I checked it, but didn't really describe where carb coolant hoses go.  I got mine back on correctly because the lower inlet on the side of the carb has a 90 degree bend in the hose, so was easy to put back on the way it came off.  If your lower hose doesn't have the bend, then this hose comes from the front of the thermostat housing, if you know what/ where that is.  Anyway, that's the way mine was routed.  Cheers

I am going to do a bit more searching for images,  but i believe i know where they should be hooked up.  The top of the head has a hose looped back to itself,  I'm assuming that is the thermostat? I'll just run one to each to the carb and see what happens.  It was a pain driving it this morning in the cold. I'm telling myself that that was the problem,  ha ha.
Thanks!

There are 3 small coolant hoses that go to the engine head.  The front one goes to the side of the carb, the back one goes to the top of the carb, the middle one comes from the radiator.  That's the way my engine is hooked up.  Hope this helps.  Cheers

Thanks!  I assumed something to that extent but wanted to make sure.  It's on now.  Another long time scooter mechanic told me that they're usually bypass because the engine needs the coolant more than the carb.  And i honestly haven't seen a   difference yet,  but I'll see on the next cold morning ride.
