Wow, never been in the case on a agility 50. Plastic gear???? Really???? Wtf were they thinking using plastic for such a critical thing. That sucks haha. All the bike I've been in have a chain and metal sprocket running the oil pump, i guess the ruckus i rebuilt had a plastic gear...

My only assumption for that gear is pre planned failure. If it was a direct drive pump or even a metal gear the engine could last for decades.
The only fatal failures on the QMB 139 "type" engines are oil delivery related. Either the left side crank bearing goes bad or the oil pump gear shears taking out the cam bearings or piston/cylinder

Just had another quick look, thought I would try the electric starter. It turned. It sounded strained, and it didn't fire.

Pull off the cylinder head. That will tell all in a few minutes.

Two weeks ago today I had a minor accident, went down on my bike ( fractured my left thumb and took the skin off my right knee - although my pants were fine... ), but all seemed fine with my bike ( broken plastics aside ).  That Wednesday I heard a high pitched whine and my Agility bit the big one.  The piston seized, as the oil pump had ripped the teeth off its gear.  Later I found out that the wrist pin seized, not the piston, but I destroyed the piston getting the wrist pin out.  Fortunately, I had the 72cc kit I had upgraded to the 100cc kit from, and was able to put that back on....

As an aside, I did finish my DC to AC conversion, and it seems to work fine.  My higher watt bulb ( 40/45 ) was draining my battery with the DC system, but with the AC conversion the spark no longer draws from the battery so it charges up just fine.

Sigh...

Wow! I'll bet your skin is still inside your pants. Gross!

I'm surprised to hear that a dump would have stripped the oil pump gear. Perhaps it was just a matter of timing or coincidence?

In any event I am happy to hear you have it sorted.
