Stig's no-start LIKE #3
« on: December 08, 2014, 07:16:37 PM »
Loaded up for the 5:30AM commute to work this morning.
Rolled the Like200i out of the garage to warm it up while I finished my coffee. Turn the key on and noticed that the fuel pump stopped too soon. Pulled the brake lever and touched the start botton.....cranked but no instant start this time!

Opened the throttle a bit, still no start. Held it full open, no start.
Waited and tried all 3 again, no start.
Crap.
Rolled it back into the garage, to get out the Forza...and in the garage light decided to look at the kill switch.....no comprendo as usual. Don't understand the symbol on the switch....never will.
Flicked it, pulled the lever and hit the start buttpn.....BLAMM! scoot started instantly and somewhat angrily!
In 20 months or so of ownership...this is the 3rd time my Kymco scooter has failed me in this same manner.

OK schools in session kids. The kill switch rocker has 2 symbols. 1 is a 0 and another with a slash through the 0. 0 with the slash through it is the kill symbol. Just like road signs, slash through symbol means NO/KAPUT/NO MAS etc. OK schools out and your welcome.

Ah, Stig! No matter what our experience we need to periodically have to retrain ourselves!

Mine has a Pict. of what looks like a donkey's face, and the other is what appears to be a donkey's other end... Maybe it's a horse? :-\

Right.
So, to use this switch for its intended purpose: the next time I perform a a counter-steer-high-side emergency dismount into the shrubbery in order to escape the Republican's Tractor Beam, I will keep a firm grip on the scooter and take it with me flying into the heather. Then pull it to me-self through the brambles right up to my nose (because who knows where my spectacles have gotten to?) so I can get a close up of this Safety/Kill Switch because by damn we're wasting fossil fuels here whilest I bleed out, and I need to get this engine off !! and save the planet.

Here is the source for the symbols used by Kymco .....
In this very early snap of a gal named Carl, wearing an early modular helmet, showing her sister (Big Foot Jan) , how you sit  & work the controls of a Vespa while casting spells with a frozen snake. On the wall of her den are the earliest examples of Taiwain scooter switch-gear symbols. You can find nearly all of these somewhere on your Kymco if you look closely.

I think you're right... I just found the one that's in my GF's car to make the lights flash, and the other one is what she does ALL the time.
