Turn off the Gulls
« on: December 06, 2014, 12:36:30 AM »
True story:
Before daybreak today, I set out on my scoot for a few hours ride and some coffee at my fav village.
Not wanting to miss my start time I set my cell phone alarm.
34degrees Fahrenheit and only a 90% chance of rain - Good enough! I jumped out of bed early.
Layered up, kissed the family Adios and armed with 4 of WalMart's best $.74 chemical warmers in my gloves and shirt pockets.............off I went.
Then I hear this hellatious chirping and squeaking on a 40mph road.
Shoot, the rear brake must need deglazing, or a rear bearing?
It lasts for minutes - comes and goes.
A few miles on I pull up to a red light, and it starts up again.
I instantly recognize my "sea gulls over the breaking surf" alarm tone, full volumn,  on my cell phone, and the guy smoking in the car next to me hears it, too.
I've got way too much on to deal with it at a light, (the phone is in my armored jacket's inside breast pocket, 4 gloves and heat packs, cuff straps, etc.) so....I flip up my visor & look straight up and pan around trying to locate the flock of Hitchcocks killer gulls which are about to attack in central Ohio.
He does a double take, and starts looking up through his wind screen, too...as the light changes and off I go.
I pride myself on quick thinking.

I stopped here to turn off the seagulls.

It's raining and 34 degrees.
Maybe not one of my better decisions. Maybe was. Had a blast!

Even from way down the street the rims picked up the camera flash. Killer muffins the size of footballs there in the window. Baked on site.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Too funny...humans are SOOOO gullible .

I once convinced a friend that if you were new to Town and had a child with Hearing Impairment...you HAD to move into one of the neighborhoods that had a Deaf Child sign in it . He argued that it was discrimination ( which it would , in fact , be )... but- I convinced him that The Town could not afford to place those signs everywhere a Child With Hearing Impairment moved to . He believed me then .
