Yes, you must get your wife to take pics of you in your winter gear. You've inspired me to ride farther into the cold months. Is there a post on what you are using that I missed?
Good to hear from you wkreps,
I just get such a kick out of my scooter riding that I barely use good sense when deciding what weather is scooterin' weather!
I use silk glove liners under heavy gauntlet gloves; T-shirt, long sleeved thermal under shirt; flannel shirt; t-neck fleece shirt; nylon wind breaker; Hi-Viz mesh armored jacket with the thin rain liner; Sliders armored jeans under FrogTogg rain pants; socks and heavy hi-top work boots. And a scarf!
Wish I could afford a heavy armored leather jacket - that mesh jacket requires a ton of layering beneath it. But have not seen an affordable Hi-Viz armored leather jacket.
Decades ago I rode my Honda bike through winters in Mass. by using a set of rubberized nylon rain pants and top over a sweater and dress shirt & slacks. Cannot find these now - and a fully rain proof set like that will also keep out ALL wind.
I have added a set of Gerbing 7 V battery heated glove liners which work great! My hands constantly limited my riding time to .75 hour on the very cold days.
When the main roads clear I will be commuting to work on my scooter again. If the main roads are safe (sometimes I have to walk my scoot through neighborhood streets for 3 or 4 blocks to get to the cleared mains) I ride to work, regardless of temps.
It IS a pain to get all this stuff on - oh yeah - I forgot the two balaclavas that I wear on the very cold days. A thin one that goes down on my chest and back - and a very thick one on top of that. You MUST keep your chin and neck well covered!
Slow down - stay on well known roads - you don't want any surprises to add to your stressed riding attention. You are stressed when it is very cold and you have so many layers on. Allow for it.

OK, this wasn't too smart....
