Draining the fuel tank

Hi,

I have a Kymco People 150 with 75 miles on the odometer. It has been stored in my garage since purchased and never operated. I would like to get it running again and need to drain and replace the fluids. I can't figure out how to drain the fuel tank short of siphoning it and I  suspect that I'll need to empty the carburetor also.  Any tips on performing those procedures and any suggestions for doing any other steps necessary to get the scooter running again. Thanks.

There should be a valve on the bottom of the tank with two lines running from it to the carb.  You can disconnect the lines at the carb.  One line is the fuel delivery the other is the vacuum which opens the valve.  You can put the delivery line into a container and suck on the vacuum line and the fuel will flow into your container.  As for draining the carb, there should be a drain screw on the bottom of the bowl.

For your first tank full I would recommend using 2oz. of Sea Foam to remove any varnish that may have built up, and 1oz. of 2 cycle oil to lube the rings/cylinder, as there is most likely some surface rust on both. While you are out getting these items a new spark plug, and fuel filter will give the extra edge on starting you may need. Good luck!
