One good company, and One good product to look at!

On Friday at 4:35 pm I ordered a tire from Bike Bandit. On Tues it was at my door! Cuddos to them! I have been on their mailing list for a few years, and this is my first order with them. After a holiday weekend order I was planning to wait! This is an example of another company that shipped it before I ordered! How do they do that? Highly Recommended!!!    The second is MacicJack. $39.99 outright. With the purchase price you get the FIRST YEAR FREE! This is a telephone "jack" that plugs into a "USB" port on your computer. A spare phone in the house will get its own #, and works EXACTLY the same as any phone you have ever used! To re-new is $19.99 a YEAR. There are too many features for me to go into, so look it up. Radio Shack has the best deal on it at $29.00. So it will cost you $9.00 for the hardware, and $20.00 for a YEAR of phone service. I have installed mine on an OLD Compaq computer, and there is NO draw on the system I can see. Boot up takes a second or two to load but for what I consider free home WHAAAAAAAAAA??? Ps. This is Nation wide, to any phone,w/ free 411. Watch out AT&T!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been trying to find out more about skype! I understand you have to purchase their dedicated accessories? I have seen you can use it as a Phone only or a video phone. How much is their service alone before the Acces. and how much is the software? I ahve only had Magic jack for a few days but $20.00 a year is good w/ me. The hardware cost 30-40. bucks, and the service is included. I could'nt come up w/ a clear picture on the cost for skype so I chose this one. Thanks...

Skype's about $60/year, all told, and you can use it with just standard stuff -- I use a headset mic (and any ol' webcam, if you want the video part). I also have a WiFi Skype phone that looks like a cell phone, from Belkin, so I can be untethered, but it's not all that great (I think I was an alpha tester, heh). Call quality is high, though, and it has some other interesting and useful features, plus add-ons that can make it function like a business PBX w/multiple voicemail boxes, etc.

I appreciate the input! There was some talk a few months ago that Skype may go under. I didn't really follow that at the time, and Magic jack offers 5 year plans at almost half off,but who knows if they will be around then. The technology has been in place for twenty years. The practice is very slow to follow. Thanks again!
