2008 agility 50 derestriction
« on: October 25, 2009, 03:56:55 AM »
Hey guys I know there are probably hundreds of posts answering my questions so I apologize in advance I'm brand new. I had a baja sc50 that did well for a while and finally gave out on me, so just today I bought a 2008 agility 50. I had done a lot to the baja and was used to doing a steady 45-50. So, needless to say 32 just don't cut it. I need to get it derestricted badly and want to learn as much as I can about it. I did find a post on a 2005, but from what I can tell it is different. I have replaced the variator with a Naraku high speed variator that doesn't have the sleeve on the end, and put an open element air filter on. That only helped get me to 35. I don't want to get into cutting wires until I know exactly what to do. Also I noticed there was a sticker that said it has an EVAP system on it. My question is what are all of the restrictions on it and how do you take them off ? Is there anything else I need to look at. The intake doesn't sound as loud as it did on my baja even with the open air filter, so it seems like there may be a restrictor maybe under the intake. All input will be greatly appreciated!!!

The open intake may Slow you down abit without rejetting, and changing the pipe.  You will still have to mod the clutch spring(s). which rollers did you install? Would you describe the wiring to your cdi? Last the EVAP is a simple recovery system for the vented fuel vapor. (not a concern for what you intend) Search w/ keywords ie variator ect... There's a ton of info that does apply to your scoot. Post back , with some extra info, and you'll be scoot'in in no time.

..yeah man, and you want to be careful with that air filter, and not increasing your jet size...

..my 08 came with a 80 jet..when I installed my k&n air filter, I had to go up to a 105..

..DON'T RUN LEAN!!
..every mod (action) necessitates a (reaction) mod..

Thanks so much guys! I plan on taking the carb off of my baja and putting it on. It is a Kehin already jetted and ready to go. I am also going to put the rear clutch off of it on the Kymco since it was matched to the variator that was on it. The CDI has a two prong plug and a four prong plug. The two prong plug has a black/blue wire, and the four prong plug has a green, blue/yellow, and black/yellow wire. I used 5.8 gr rollers that came with the naraku variator. Thanks again guys!!!

The roller weight sounds a little lite for a 4t, but should be pretty close. The cdi is the same de-restrict as shaka's w/ the cut being into the bottom of the case. If you search de-restrict cdi I think you will find a few picts. You could also see what shaka is running for rollers. Since you don't get as high in rpm's a heavier roller works a little better. 6.5g or so.

I don't know if that is the same cdi as mine.  My cdi has a 2 prong and a 4 prong plug.  The wires come out of the cdi box about 6 inches and then into the 2 plugs.  On mine I just took a splice connector and jumped the lite green and the dark green wires together.

I have an 09 Agility 50 and these are some things I have done to make it go 45.
- I installed the derestricted variator bushing, not needed for you since you replaced the whole variator
- installed an 88 main jet in the carb
- I cut the cdi to derestrict the rpms (You should be able to google this, as i did)
- I put Dr Pulley 6.5g variator weights in, but again you replaced the whole variator so it could be different for you.

With these mods i got 45 an the flats and 40 or so mostly everywhere else.

the Dr Pulleys aren't neccesary, but the acceleration will be better, and I got another couple of mph out of the top with them.

I haven't spent fifty bucks on the parts and you can do all the installs yourself with the most complicated tool being an impact wrench.
I did need a large filter wrench to put a 1500rpm torque spring in the rear pulley, but I ended up changing that back to stock because it took away from my top speed.  You might try the white 1000rpm torque spring though.

Everybody tells me to just get the big bore kit.  they say you'll get the most bang for your buck that way.

hope this helps
