Agility 125 Checkup?
« on: April 10, 2015, 05:16:53 PM »
Hey y'all,

Hope all is well. I am no mechanic but maybe I got the basic packed down.

Apart from taking it in for a full service a few years ago, I learned how to change the oil by myself. The first go wasn't perfect but the next, and the one after seem to be pretty easy now. I just changed my one this week and originally was suppose to change it months ago but my oil plug was wrecked/chewed when I tried to use 17mm wrench. It was a long process and managed to take it off using a bolt extractor and a grip pliers to remove the old plug inside of the bolt extractor.

If memory serves, my kms is close to 27000. I wanted to know if there is anything else under DIY that I could do without having to take it in the workshop?

Here is my DIY Checklist :
- Oil change (done)
- pump tire up (done)
-------------------------
What else could I DIY:
- New spark plug?
- New battery how long and often do I change it?

That is all I know. If anything please let me know?

Many thanks in advance
CHEERS :)

A few things that should be changed / checked:
Valve clearance, very easy on the Agility look up a youtube guide on GY6 valve adjustment
Change spark plug, also very easy
Change final drive gear oil
at 27k you'll want to make sure your belt is in good shape, and rollers too.
2002 Kymco B&W 300; MRP 78MM "300CC", Naraku cam, Yoshimura rS3 exhaust, 17g Sliders, Yellow torque spring drilled airbox, stock carb #115 main #40 pj.

2001 "Yamaha" Zuma AKA MBK Booster; MHR OverRange, Dellorto 19mm BHBG, Polini "big" intake, RS-3 Rear shock, Stock cylinder.

You've gone 27k with the original spark plug?

Cool, I will look them all up. Cheers for that. Final drive gear oil? Sound like a mechanic job.
Forgot to mention the Drive Belt was changed earlier at 10000kms well actually the mechanic's fault and said it wasn't the problem that causing the scooter to hop at a complete stop but changed it anyway lol? It wasn't until I spoke to another mechanic when they said it can last up to 20000kms. That is when I realized this mechanic was a bit dodgy and never went back after being with them for 3yrs. I still have the old Drive Belt still in good condition and using the current one which is close to (270000 - 10000kms) 17000kms now.

I always drive to the speed limit and the highest speed is normally around 90kmh on the highway and no higher. So I avoid the motorway as best as possible and use the car if I drive further out. So I think I manage to look after it so far without having thrash the bike.

You've gone 27k with the original spark plug?
I think they would of been changed from the last full service? At what kms does it need to be changed? I will look it up hopefully not too hard to change it ;)

Belt and roller maintenance are essential to maintain performance.
Gear oil wouldnt hurt either with all the miles on your engine.
If your scoot has ever sat for a long period of time, cleaning the carb may be a good idea too. Tho if you're not confident enough to take apart the carb, an ounce or two of seafoam should help clean out the fuel lines, filter, and carb decently.
Simple things like proper psi in tires, adjusting rear brake cable, and replacing brake fluid assure you're getting the most out of your scoot
