Agility 125 Starting Issue

My 2007 125 is giving me trouble.

It was running fine all summer then about three weeks ago wouldn't start one morning. It was a cooler morning (40F) and at the time I jump started it and it fired up on the second try. I presumed I had flooded it.

A week ago it was cool again and it wouldn't fire. I cranked multiple times for five minutes until the battery died. Tried to jump start it and nothing. Left it sit until evening, put a new plug into it and tried again. After tapping on the CDI it fired. After that it fired fine for a week.

Today it wouldn't start at work again. Got jumped and cranked for 10 seconds and it fired and died, cranked again and it fired up. Rode home and it seemed to be fine.

Battery tests fine and charging system is working. When this happens I can smell fuel so I don't think it is a fuel issue.

So before I go buying parts, does anyone have suggestions?

I was thinking new CDI. The part number on mine is a Suitai D-411 which I don't know if it AC or DC. I was thinking they aren't expensive so I would pick up one, and maybe the coil too.

I was thinking of picking up these parts:

The CDI is epoxy sealed. Tapping on the case does nothing inside it. BUT it does jiggle loose wiring. You may just have a worn connection inside the harness or plug.

The CDI, and coil you show are fine. You can get a combo deal on Ebay for about 10 bucks. Look there too.

That CDI will take re-wiring the harness. It is NOT plug, and play. Not a big deal tho. Lots of us use them, and I have only had one fail out of perhaps 2 dozen. Not too bad considering the savings over OEM.
Just look at your CDI first. Some are two plug, and most are one. If you get a one plug you will have to add a second ground, and adapt the harness. The two plug IS plug, and play.

I ended up ordering a combo of eBay after reading your response. Will take two weeks to get here but no worries.

This morning I started it up and it fired right away. I could hear a slight miss at idle while it ran. After about 30 seconds it stalled out on it's own. I fired it again.

For the price of these two parts I don't see an issue replacing them as a trial. If that isn't it I will tinker over the coming winter to get it running right.

follow all the wires associated in the system as well. I have found loose "bullett connectors several times in bikes that are doing just as you describe.

Maybe even a loose main ground from the engine to the frame or the battery to the frame.
Wiring is the weakest link on all Kymco bikes. Recycled copper, and cheap tin contacts.

I am suspecting a loose connection and need to get a detailed look. This morning while riding in the dark I noticed a very infrequent flicker of the headlight but it didn't seem to coincide with a bump in the road.

Will be checking all the wires shortly to look for a loose connection.

hat's sounding more like a bad ground. It's just as easy to add a new set of engine to frame, and frame to batters grounds. The chassis grounds on Kymco are Green. The main ground from engine to frame is black.

Well, still no luck after the winter. There are times when it will fire right up. Now more often than not it will not fire. It will crank until the battery is dead, jump starting it will crank forever then fire and not want to run or stall once or twice then run fine.

I replace the auto bystarter in it as well, but still acting up.

At this point I am disappointed that I cannot find the issue. The ground connection for the engine seems fine it if is where I think it is. Does anyone have good pictures of where the various ground connections are?

Dude take your carb out and clean everything, most importantly make sure your can see light through the idle jet when you take it out. This IS your problem.
