Do I need J I S screwdrivers?
« on: May 07, 2015, 01:08:00 AM »
Do I need a JIS driver for my motorcycles and scooters which were made in Asia ? (China, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan)
What's the deal - special Japanese Phillips screws just to be passive-agressive?
I use a reg. Phillips and a bull-nosed Phillips on my scoots and have few problems - but then I don't want to mess up a fitting if I need a better tool.
They look a little pricey - anybody make a JIS insert for a driver?

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

These screws should be indicated by a dot on the head between the flanges. The only place I've ever seen them on my Super8 150 is the carb bowl screws. I've heard they can be stripped out if overtorqued with a regular screwdriver. Didn't have any issues when I took my carb apart.

You know what "they" say though, right tool for the right job.

Any halfway decent scredriver set should have that bit. My husky set has it.
