Long Haul, High Weight and painting plastic on a Kymco 2008 500cc Xciting

Okay so I wanted to share a few things that I couldn't find anywhere online, and the internet IS my business so it's just not out there, or at least anything useful.

These are what I would like to share;

1. Painting the plastic on ANY scooter (especially the Xciting because the gas inlet pours gas everywhere if the pump shuts off late. This washes out the colour and looks terrible. I fixed mine in a couple hours with no scraping, sanding, primer or professional application.

2. Saddlebags for maxi-scooters (especially the wide ones and the ones that do not have custom and permanent saddle-bags

3. Scala Q1 Bluetooth headsets - Better get some superglue or deep pockets

4. Travel on an Xcite with lots of weight

Painting - so I couldn't find this information anywhere except bad youtube videos and long drawn-out directions.

Painting - so I couldn't find this information anywhere except bad youtube videos and long drawn-out directions. I have attached pics of the before and after. This bike only had 8000 mi on it so I took it apart (and I am NO mechanic!) and decided to paint it. Simple 3 step process;
1. Wash with soap and water
2. Spray with plastic primer
3. Paint (I used matte black) - the key is light coating 4-5 times and it comes out perfect!

The only note here is that you need to avoid getting the plastic primer on any metal parts as it will cause a bubbling effect, like you get when you apply paint remover, and anyone that has done this knows it's a flippin' mess!

Did you use automotive paint? I seem to remember that regular paint store paint will not stand up to gasoline but I think you can get automotive spray cans at auto parts stores like OReilleys and autozone.

Well, ScubaGuy, I think this is a pretty well-run forum with Skadamo getting back to me very quickly when I had some kinda issue a long time ago. Secondly, you listed four items and only addressed one after prompting. Thirdly, I am surprised that someone who makes the internet THEIR business has so much trouble on a forum most of US find easy to use.

Shoot Karl, I was hoping to see something like this family heading out on a little early morning Mother's Day chore before settling down to lasagna & garlic bread.

A fellow scooter lover who also does not own a car, like me. Well. (full disclosure here: my inlaws apparently could no longer stand the idea of their daughter's husband refusing to own a car in Ohio - so they gave me a pretty low mileage Chevvvy Silverado-oho truck with Swiss cap. I do try to run it after ea. rain to keep the rotors from rusting solid to the pads. And am searching for a "My other car is a scooter" bumper sticker.)
I also love how this fellow decided to go lateral with the added seating, rather than tandem. I am currently working with some scrap plywood and Tupperware to build places alongside me for my coffee and a 10-box of Tim Bits - and small sales/display floor for some of those extra Kymco parts I own - that I bought to fix my running issues and turned out to be something else. {injector, coil, fuel pump, vent hoses, plug leads, seat, etc.)
