UPDATE 7:00 p.m.: A moped driver was killed Saturday in a crash that took place just before 6:30 p.m., Anchorage Police wrote in a press release.
"The crash was between a vehicle and a moped in which the driver of the moped was killed," police wrote.
According to police, the crash took place on the outbound lane of the highway, approximately one quarter mile past the Fort Richardson overpass.
Police say that the far left lane of the highway remains open and ask that drivers merge to the left and be cognizant of first responders and emergency vehicles.
ORIGINAL: All outbound lanes of the Glenn Highway are temporarily shut as police respond to a car crash near Fort Richardson, Anchorage Police wrote in a press release Saturday.
"It was a serious crash," police spokesperson Renee Oistad told Channel 2 news.
