Cvt issue
« on: May 25, 2015, 11:51:04 PM »
My bro has a like which just went out of warranty. The bike has exactly 3200mi.. some months ago went into the dealer with the same issue. Got fixed (didnt say what was wrong just fixed it) i took it from the shop and just rode it home where it was stored. Today i did some rutine work anx when i test it after i realized that it had a stumble/rattle when starting until it got some speed (15mph aproximatelly) and after that it pulls ok.
I am going to take the cvt cover during this week and basically check rollers and clean clutch. Any other suggestion?
I didnt had a impact gun with me today neither compressed air.. thats why it didnt have much sense to do it today.

I don't have an impact wrench - just the holding tool (ebay, $12).
Hardest bit for me was getting the belt cover free from the case. That gasket was really stuck.
Used a paint scraper to work it around and finally popped loose.

Today i got every thing apart.. had the right tools and basically cleaned sandpapered re assemble and runned fine and very smootht!
Putting every thing together was a lill tedious but i got there...
Job done!

Super!
Gentle take offs tends to glaze the clutch surfaces... gotta give it the beans a bit to prevent that.
Haven't visited my clutch in several thousand miles since I started being just a bit more aggressive on take offs.
