Owner in Palm Springs area???
« on: January 25, 2014, 04:33:42 PM »
I'm considering purchasing a Like 200i but would like to make sure it fits - ergonomically. Anyone in the Palm Springs area that would let me sit on theirs?  No driving necessary.
Thanks

If you find one and you are over 6' tall, try sitting in the rear half of the seat. That's what I've been doing for the 5000 miles I've had mine. It works for me.

I'm a 5'11" 190lb guy with a 32" inseam. The Like fits me almost perfectly. I hope that helps!

I just checked with Carls' Scooter AirFreight & TopSoil Co. .....me and my 200iLX can be airdropped to sunny Palm Springs for $2,895. This afternoon, if you want to PayPal them. I have 4 more inches of snow to shovel off of the drive then I'll make a sack lunch and me and the LIKE will be ready.....

DO check in with www.justgottascoot.com to read their review of the LIKE - where this ergo issue is discussed.
I did read it, I'm 6'3", and after sitting on 3 LIKEs, several different days - I bought one in spite of the issues with knees and bar ends.
After a couple of near misses - and reading of another guy dumping his - I learned the "adult on a tricycle" knees flaired riding style to keep my knees out of the way .

For a couple of months I did this with no isssues. Then I rebuilt the seat - moved back and lived happily ever after.

Thanks all for the input.  I weight 150 / 5'8" and have a 32 inch inseam (short torso, long legs) so maybe this scoot would fit.

Stig.....what would you like for dinner?   ;D

Mr. Flavio,
Stig is down at the end of the drive, sitting on his scooter with a sack lunch, staring up into the swirling dark snow clouds. He said his buddy "Carl, an ex-gunship pilot from 'Nam", is coming to take him to California.
The snow is blowing & getting pretty deep around him. He probably won't last much longer, I'll start the coffee and set out a donut for him. He gets like this when he skips his meds, or is snowed off his scooter for too many days.

Flavio - don't believe a word the Stigs write! He tried the same thing with me here in Oregon and it took me a week to get rid of him.Now me, that's a different matter. I have snow-bird father in law in Palm Desert and my Like and I can stay with him. All you have to do is the pay the freight - a far better deal than you can get with Stig. So, how about it? I can be ready this coming Friday it that's not too soon.

BTW I'm a long 5'10" and 190lbs and am one of the guys Stig wrote about. Hung up my knee on the handlebar coming out of a parking lot trying to make a sharp right turn into the street. Going too slow and just laid it down on the high side. No harm done except a broken right brake handle and a  very bruised ego. Had my seat redone (check mredsmoto.com) to push the hump back, but still have to be careful in the slow, sharp turns. "Knees out if in doubt" is still my motto. Left hand feathering the brake and a gentle roll on the throttle helps, too.
Peace and Ride Safe

Good luck. Hope you find your Like. She's a sweet

Flavio,
Please note, there ia another side of donandrews' story. I departed Oregon because monsieur donandrews began short-sheeting my bunk, and watering the Bourbon. The shrimp were getting smaller by the day...I can take a hint....So, I borrowed some of his better tools, and a couple sets of his cuff links and moved on.
He's a nice fellow, certainly - but he gets a little testy after only several days as a host.
Good luck with your purchase of a LIKE - I had a blast commuting to work today. 7*F this morning, a balmy 25 coming home this afternoon. I think it has been over 2 weeks since starting the LIKE.....with 4 days well below 0*F. Unplugged the battery tender and it fired right up and quickly settled into a smooth idle at 4:30 this morning. (love that fuel injection~!)

Stig/Donandrews - thanks for your wacky yet informative responses and my apologies for the very late response.  In the end I bought a PCX150......but I've already sold it.  Now I'm looking at the Downtown but it seems to have the same ergo challenges.  Ugh!

I'm 5'9" 210 lbs with an approximate 32" inseam. The Like seems to be a better fit for those of us shorter than 6'. I purchased my Like nearly 3 years ago and have pretty much enjoyed ever mile I have put on it. Rarely am I uncomfortable riding the Like and that's usually after a few hours in the saddle. Other options are the Piaggo BV350 or their Vespas.

I should warn you that Stig may not exist. Some here claim he is a lost tormented soul. Others say he is demonic. Personally I think he is a Bot created by the italians to steal ideas to better compete with Kymco.

Hello, like to froze to death waiting on your paypal......still, we are a helpful group of idiots, so:
I like the seating on my Forza.....and I am 6'3"....34 inseam. The Forza's handlebars can be moved easily because they are not captured in plastic body panels as on some scooters. Move them about to suit your fitment. This was my first step after I rode my new Honda home.

I wonder if PS heat would be an issue with an air cooled like/efi system.. Talking hell on earth hot here not Ohio hot.
