Feeler: Carbonfibre CVT cover
« on: June 17, 2015, 02:57:29 PM »
Just wanting to get an idea of those who would be interested in a group buy of custom carbon fiber CVT covers. I want to approach one of my instructors in the composites shop about making the covers, but naturally it would have to be worth his while to make this happen.  Final costs are YTD but should be under $300. Covers will be made out of aircraft grade dry carbon which is considerably lighter and stronger then wet layup CF. If this materializes, a deposit would most likely be required for materials and setup. Post up if seriously interested. Looking to get this going this month. Thanks

The stock cover is bullet-proof so it may not see a lot to buyers

Your rite and Im not expecting high volume. I figure 5 or less as they are not going to be cheap to make. They are geared more to the hardcore tuner looking for weight savings, added cooling/ heat disapation and /or that CF look. Ive seen a few racers basically do away with the cover perse' and simply have a CF sheet with holes cut for just the faces of the variator and clutch bell poke through. Basically a just a  "belt guard" .

If I had the extra cash I would definitely find it interesting,  and useful. Plus it would look sweet.  But with that it would make the other bad looking parts of my bike look worse lol.  A carbon fiber battery cover and glove box lid would be a good pairing with the cvt cover for me!
