Purpose of these hoses?

The stock carb has only one of these hoses,  the arreche 19 has two.  I know that they let air in,  but what does it affect and why?  I bought the carb used,  it didn't have them so I had to add them,  using the picture as reference.
Almost...at...speed...limit... Aww, brake lights..

You had it, they are breathers for the float bowl. Just like the gas tank, the carb is vented. Imagine a pop bottle upside down with no holes, the liquid will slosh out and not come out in a nice stream, now put a hole in the bottle and it will pour out faster and smoother. The carb works the same way, for gas to flow in and out it needs vent holes, not sure why some carbs have two and some have one tho.

The person I got the carb from said that the two hoses had to be together at the end also.  Just to be organized is what I figured.

Thanks though.  It makes perfect sense.

Ehh idk if it really matters if they are connected or not. On my 19mm Dellorto they are just two spigot looking things on both sides, totally separate. Having those hoses helps keep dirt and water out of the float bowl pretty good.

Fantastic.  I also like to keep them tucked behind the little shield at the front of the airbox.  Added protection!

My stock carb had two hoses that looked like they contained coolant as I saw a little orange drip out so I used a 2 way barbed fitting to combine the two so the coolant can flow as if the carb was there

That was coolant,  supposed to have something to do with getting the atomized fuel to a similar temperature as the engine, if I was told true.  Your stock carb also had a single hose that ran from the back over the point where the air box hose connected and mounted in a tiny loop in the float bowl to keep it in place.

Ya I've heard of LC throttle bodies and carbs. But, connecting the two hoses together was just one less thing to worry about. I think the theory behind it is kinda dumb really didn't do that impressive of a performance increase by warming the fuel air mix

A secondary reason for the coolant is to de-ice the carb. If it's below 40, even above 32, the carb can start to ice up. Same reasoning for the hose on the air cooled piping cylinder hot air to the carb. Not a big deal if you don't ride in cooler climate. The 250's have an electric carb heater :)))

Damn,  this winter might be sketchy for me then.  I used the stock carb with lines connected last year,  rode in single digit temperatures more times than I wanted to.  Maybe that's a good reason to finally get this tgb r50x figured out,  let the s9 rest a little during the rough times...

Ya no snow for my super 9. I fogged my cylinder last November and took it out March. Doin it again this year. Don't like goin 60 on ice and wearin 2 winter coats a ski mask and 2 pairs of gloves  :P
