Stock air box modification
« on: June 02, 2015, 04:46:06 AM »
I decided to post some pics of what I did to my air box in case anyone is like me and wanted to avoid a pod filter.
It did make me run extra lean,  so beware and prepare for upjetting.  I am now able to run my 19mm carb without sputtering and I'm still needing to throw the larger jet in it.
These pics are with the stock carb on it still.  I rode it with it a few miles,  noticed some weird power loss and bogging on occasions,  checked the plug and saw that the nice dark color had burnt off,  working towards grey/white. I put on my 19mm arreche that sputtered bad even with an 85 jet and needle at the leanest.  The bogging reduced but was still there,  plug still getting scorched.  Tomorrow I'm putting in the 95 jet and moving the needle to the middle position to see how it acts.

I'm wondering if the mild ribbing in the hose that I used would cause any issues...

95 runs great in it,  the needle at middle was a waste of time.  Put the needle back at the leanest,  rode almost 70km, still a few bugs,  but pretty good so far.  I'm still having a slight issue if I go from wot to half throttle,  kinda sputters or something,  haven't pin pointed it out yet.

Just high temp red rtv. It's what I had on hand.  It was close to air tight without it,  just used a thin bead for added precaution.
