Cracking plastic body panels....
« on: July 18, 2015, 04:13:06 PM »
Anyone else experiencing cracking body panels on their Like 200? I've already replaced the lower left side panel twice for cracking. Now it's developed a crack in the upper left side body panel (above the button for the rear foot peg). It seems that the plastic they use for these body panels is just too brittle.

Strange.  I had two Likes, a 2011 and a 2013.  Plastic was fine in both of those.

The attachment point tab by the left rear foot peg snapped on me and I was able to glue it back together with crazy glue. The vent just below the same foot peg broke loose and I reattached using silicon adhesive. Too many tabs and thin ones at that on the Like in my opinion. I am always concerned when I take the scooter apart I'll break a tab.

Plastics are nice looking and light weight but do crack easily. In cold weather they get really brittle. In above pic I'd just live with that crack. If you drill a 1/16th in hole at the end of the crack it will prevent it from spreading, something to do with the physics of the hole being round it is stronger than the surrounding material.
