Apparently, it's a clear spark plug that lets you see the flame color. Orange means too rich, blue means just right. I'm not sure what color means too lean, though.

I looked nto them some time ago, and as Mclark points out, all you see is no load conditions.
I believe that anyone that has set their own idle mix at least once can tell more by ear, and throttle response.
