Lost power on the hwy
« on: September 28, 2015, 02:13:10 AM »
So a week ago I was riding home from work and the rumbled suddenly and I lost acceleration.  Pulled off the drive cover and the belt is fine the clutch is fine.  The starter spins everything but it won't start.
Pulled off the fuel line no gas being pumped.
Pulled the spark plug out and did not see a spark when turning over the bike.
Found that the spark plug boot was 20k ohm resistance.
So I'm looking for a new spark plug boot. Possibly a new fuel pump.
Changed the spark plug when I was at it too.

The fuel pump on my People 250 died out on me the same way. I was coasting along and it just suddenly jerked and died. I bought a replacement pump from my dealer. It was pretty easy to replace.

When you checked for spark, did you have the spark plug touching metal? If not, that's why you wouldn't see spark. Make sure the plug is touching the motor when you check it.

Yeah I figured that spark plug issue out shortly after testing it so I'm going to retest it when I have some time tonight.
