So I have a 2001 and it is needing some repair. I only paid 1000$ for it, and it has a wicked kit on it. It now needs a new exhaust, kit and carb. He wants 350$ for the exhaust, 225$ for the carb and 325$ for the kit. Is it worth repairing or should I sell it and upgrade?

If you put another $900 in a 15 year old scooter you will not increase it's value (over what you originally paid for it (IMO).
If you go to sell it needing repairs you will get next to nothing for it.
If there is another scooter, newer in good repair that you can buy for the $900 you'd pay in repairs (and whatever you get for your unprepared current ride) I would suggest that is the best route.
There is, of course, risk in any purchase, even when buying new...
